Planning for
the 5th year of Camp and Brew began on the Monday after the race ended
in 2005. Ideas were flowing and hopes of doing this all over again,
albeit bigger and better, were foremost in our minds.
The 2005
clean-up went easier since Glenn did NOT leave just after the race and
actually helped with some of the clean-up! (Note
from Glenn: Don't count on that happening again! lol)
This year, we are hoping to maybe add to that team as is really is a lot
of hard work to pack everything back up and hit the road at the crack of
noon on Monday.
Of course
another aspect we hope to sincerely build on is our designated charity,
Brian’s Wish. It will be a real challenge in 2006 to top the total
of $2,630 that we raised last May, which shattered the previous year’s
total of $1,600. More C&B fans, maybe a few more race pools and just
maybe we can set a new record.
Having Fred
Nation, our friend Sgt. Joe Kramer,
Joe Staysniak
from WIBC as well as
Petty Officer Sharalee Wirt (fresh from singing the national anthem at
the race--see right) were just some of the highlights from last year.
Who will we see this year? No way to tell. Could be Mindy! But even
if we did know, we’d not likely spill the beans.
One change
we anticipate is having two full size RV’s. We have always had the 20
footer of original C&B fame, but this year, the plan is to have the
second, larger more luxurious RV make the trip in from Colorado.
Complete with IRL Logo, it will be a welcome and appropriate addition
for the 5th year celebration. Christening it with a bottle of beer will
be Tommy’s greatest honor.
Chez Bubba,
purveyors of the finest smoked meats, may or may not make the trek, but
have pledged several forms of support, including some pre-smoked pulled
pork. We hope they join us, but understand that weddings and other
family obligations can tend to get in the way of a great time.
We
predict 33 cars will start the race in May and sadly, we also predict
all 33 drivers will be too busy to make an appearance at C&B...But we do
promise to make it very, very memorable for any that do show!
Keep
checking here for news and we hope to see YOU at the corner of Camp and
Brew at the Indy Coke Lot come May 25th!
